Precision Devices, Inc. currently is registered to ISO 9001. As an original equipment manufacturer, we design and manufacture precision instrumentation for measurement of surface texture and roundness. Therefore, the appropriate accreditation for our organization is ISO 9001.
Additionally, as the OEM, we certify the instrumentation systems that we manufacture or have acquired the rights to manufacture. This is consistent with the Quality System Requirements in QS-9000, Third Edition, paragraph 4.11.2.b.1 and with the new international ISO/TS 16949 standard paragraph 4.10.6. QS-9000, paragraph 4.11.2.b.1 “Calibration Services” contains the following note:
“Where a qualified laboratory does not exist for a given piece of equipment, calibration services may be performed by the original equipment manufacturer.”
ISO/TS 16949, paragraph 4.10.6 “Laboratory Requirements” contains the following note:
“Where inspection, testing and calibration services are conducted by a supplier’s laboratory facility, the laboratory shall comply with ISO/IEC 17025, including use of a laboratory scope.
NOTE: Accreditation of supplier facilities to ISO/IEC 17025 or national equivalent is not required by, nor does it satisfy, all quality system requirements specified in this Technical Specification for a laboratory. Therefore, the laboratory should be included in the on-site audits.
Commercial/independent laboratory facilities used for inspection, test or calibration services by the supplier shall be accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 or national equivalent.”
In accordance with the above standards, Precision Devices provides calibration and certification services to our customers so they can conform to ISO and TS standards. To ensure compliance with the intent of Guide 25 and its replacement ISO/IEC FDIS 17025, all calibrations are performed according to documented internal procedures using standards that are fully traceable directly to NIST. Certifications issued with the calibration service comply with ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994.
